KATHY'S CARAMEL BARS | |
Crust: 3/4 c. butter 1 c. flour 1 c. oatmeal 3/4 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut crust ingredients together until texture of oatmeal. Pat 3/4 of this mixture into a greased 9 X 13 pan. Bake 10 minutes. As crust is baking, make filling. Filling: 35 caramels 3 tbsp. milk 3 tbsp. butter 1 c. chocolate chips Melt caramels, milk and butter in a saucepan. Do not boil. Pour mixture over warm crust and spread evenly. Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel layer, then sprinkle remaining crumb mixture over chips. Bake 15 minutes. You can use half butterscotch and half chocolate chips, if desired. |
