APPLE OATMEAL BARS 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. shortening

Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add sugar and oatmeal. Cut in shortening. Spread 1/2 of this in greased 8" or 9" square pan. Arrange 2 1/2 cups sliced apples on top. Dot with 2 teaspoons butter and 1/2 cup white sugar over apples. Cover with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
