ITALIAN BUTTER COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 sticks butter, room temperature
1 egg, slightly beaten

ICING:

Confectioners' sugar
Vanilla
Warm water
Jimmies

Mix all ingredients together well. Roll into little balls. Flatten slightly on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Bottom will be light brown. Remove to brown paper or waxed paper.

Icing: Mix about 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla, and small amounts of water until smooth. Dip cookies and add Jimmies.
