CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
1 1/4 c. sifted self-rising flour

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 2 large baking sheets, cream butter and sugars with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg, flour and vanilla, blend well. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop by spoon 2 inches apart onto sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
