AL'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. butter, melted
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 c. unsifted flour (self-rising)
1 c. (6 oz. pkg.) chocolate chips
1/2 lb. chopped walnuts

If you do not use self-rising flour, add 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

Put butter, brown sugar, sugar, egg, and vanilla in a large bowl and mix well with a mixer. Slowly add flour and mix with mixer. (Batter will get stiff.) Add chips and nuts, folding mixture by hand. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-20 minutes or until golden brown.
