CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. self rising flour
1 c. chopped walnuts, optional
1 (11.5 oz.) pkg. milk chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350°F. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Blend in remaining ingredients. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet.

Yield: about 6 dozen.
