Tastes great, but did not spread out. The cookies were more like mounds and more cake like than chewy like a typical chocolate chip cookie and I wondered why? Mary

 Cooks.com replies:
Hi Mary,

If you substitute margarine or shortening for the butter that the recipe calls for your cookies will not spread out as much because butter melts before the cookies have a chance to set and spreads more on the pan. We don't recommend substitutions in this recipe.

Hope this helps!
