KENTUCKY STYLE CORNBREAD 
1 1/2 c. white corn meal
1/2 c. white flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 to 2 c. buttermilk (preferably 2)
1/2 c. corn oil

Mix together first 5 ingredients. Add buttermilk and corn oil, mixing lightly and quickly. Pour into 10-inch deep-dish pie plate. Bake at 400 degrees (cold oven) approximately 30 minutes. Turn out onto plate immediately. Do not cover or it will become soggy. Can be frozen. Old buttermilk gives better flavor.
