J. JAMES EXON'S CAMPAIGN STEW 
1 1/2 lbs. stew beef
1 c. chopped celery
1 c. chopped onions
2 c. chopped carrots
2 c. cubed potatoes
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
1 env. dry onion soup mix
1 lg. can stewed tomatoes
1/2 c. dry red wine

Stir all ingredients together in a covered Dutch oven. Set oven to 300 degrees for 4 hours. Stir occasionally. Add water if it seems too dry.
