TRACY'S SWEDISH TEA RING 
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. scalded milk
6 tbsp. shortening
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. nuts, raisins, cinnamon & brown sugar
Melted butter

Soften yeast in water. Combine scalded milk, salt, sugar and shortening. Then add yeast and half of flour; beat well. Let rise 45 minutes. Add egg and remaining flour and mix well. Let rise 45 minutes to 1 hour. Roll dough out on lightly floured surface. Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with nuts, raisins, cinnamon and brown sugar. Roll up like jelly roll. form 2 half rings on a greased baking sheet. Using scissors cut ring on top at 2" intervals leaving inner edge intact. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes. Cover with foil tent last 10 minutes of baking. Frost with powdered sugar frosting.
