RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1/4 c. red food color
2 tsp. cocoa
2 1/4 c. cake flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter, add sugar. Make it very fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Add coloring which has been mixed with cocoa mixing a thin paste. Put salt in buttermilk. Add milk and flour alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla and mix well. Add baking soda, then vinegar and mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in two (2) nine inch pans.

NOTE: A whipped cream frosting goes very well with this cake.
