1 c. Crisco or butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
4 tbsp. cocoa
4 tbsp. hot coffee
1 tsp. red food coloring
2 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Mix cocoa, coffee, red coloring and vanilla and add to creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Bake in greased and floured layer pans 30 to 35 minutes in 350 degree oven.
