SKILLET BEEF FOR BACHELORS
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 med. onion, chopped
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 bottle chili sauce (6 oz.)
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 c. water
3/4 c. barley (or potatoes, if you don't have barley)

Cook the meat, onions and bell peppers in a skillet until brown, then drain off fat. Add other ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer over medium heat, covered for 1 hour. This will make enough to last for 3 or 4 days if you're dining along. 4-6 servings.

I just made and ate this recipe, only changed/added some items.

I also noticed the cooking instructions are lacking. For example, brown the beef 1st, drain the fat. THEN add the onions and chopped bell peppers, which are not even listed in the ingredient list.

I left out the barley/potatoes. didn't make sense that potatoes were in what is essentially chilli.

I used stewed tomatoes...and added chopped green chiles, and red kidney beans, along with some cayenne ground pepper and chilli paste, but only 4 oz.

after modifying it as I did....man oh man was it good! easy to chop and brown and simmer. done after only 40 minutes vs 1 hr.

try it, you'll like it.
