BLACKEYED PEA CHOWDER 
1/2 lb. smoked bacon, diced
2 c. green pepper, chopped
2 c. onion, chopped
1 can beef consomme
2 cans (1 lb. each) Del Monte tomatoes, peeled
2 cans (1 lb. each) blackeyed peas

Saute in large saucepan bacon with green pepper and onion. Add tomatoes, peas and consomme; simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve in bowls. Serves 6 to 8.
