CHEDDAR CHOWDER 
2 c. boiling water
2 c. diced potatoes
1/2 c. sliced carrots
1/2 c. frozen peas
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. (8 oz.) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 c. cubed ham
2 c. milk

Add water to potatoes, carrots, peas, onions, salt and pepper. Cover, simmer for 10 minutes. Do not drain. Make white sauce with butter, flour and milk. Add cheese, stir until melted. Add ham and undrained vegetables. Heat, but do not boil. Serves 6 to 8.
