FRENCH COFFEE LACE | |
1 batch your favorite white yeast bread dough 2 c. finely chopped apples 1 c. finely chopped raisins 1 c. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Mix and boil for 1 minute the apples, raisins, sugar, salt, cinnamon and cool. Roll out dough into 14x8 inch rectangle. Place on greased heavy baking sheet. Spread fruit filling down center of dough covering space about 3 inch wide. At each side of filling, make cuts 2 inches apart and 2 inches into dough. Take a strip on each side and cross them at center of the filling. Pull strips down, keeping ends inside. Continue to lace strips, tucking last strips underneath. Cover with damp cloth and let rise until double. Bake 375 degrees 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with glaze of powdered sugar, water and vanilla. |
