BEATEN BISCUITS | |
2 lbs. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 lb. lard 3/4 c. milk 3/4 c. water Combine flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Sift 3 times. Work in the lard until mixture is mealy. Pour in liquid and mix with wooden spoon until you can gather it with your hands in a ball. Knead until it blisters and pops. Pat out 1/2 inch thick and cut with biscuit cutter. Puncture biscuits with a fork all the way through. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes. Makes 8 dozen. |
