1 c. butter
1 c. cooking oil
1 c. sugar
1 c. powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt

Cream butter, oil and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt. Chill and roll in balls the size of a walnut. Roll in sugar and flatten out. Dough will be very soft. May also drop dough on cookie sheet and flatten with glass that has been greased on bottom and then dipped in sugar. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degrees. These freeze well. May sprinkle with colored sugar for Christmas. Makes approximately 12 dozen.
