1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 c. milk
3 c. Bisquick
3/4 tsp. anise
1/2 c. mixed candied fruit
3/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugar, egg, milk and Bisquick. Beat vigorously 30 seconds. Batter will be slightly lumpy. Blend in anise, fruit, nuts. Pour into greased loaf pan, 9 x 5.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick stuck into center comes out clean. Crack in top is typical. Cool before slicing.
