DANISH BUTTERMILK BREAD 
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. fruit cake mixed fruits
1/2 c. white raisins
1/2 c. candied cherries
1 c. nuts
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
Melted butter

Cream sugar and butter and add eggs, beating well. Sift together baking powder, salt, soda and flour. Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add lemon flavoring. Fold in fruits and nuts and put in 3 greased loaf pans. Sprinkle tops generously with sugar before baking. Bake at 325 to 350 degrees for 1 hour.

When done, spoon melted butter on tops. Let stand a little while before removing from pans. This is a delicious Christmas bread!
