SHEATH CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. water
4 tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon

Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, cocoa and cinnamon together. Cream butter and shortening until soft; add dry ingredients, milk, water, eggs and vanilla. Beat 4 minutes. Pour into large sheet pan. Bake at 325 degrees for about 40 minutes. Ice while hot.

ICING FOR SHEATH CAKE:

1 box confectioners' sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 stick butter
1/2 c. nuts (if desired)

Melt butter. Add cocoa and milk. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add confectioners' sugar, vanilla and nuts. Spread on cake as soon as it is removed from oven.
