BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE | |
1 box light brown sugar 1 1/2 c. shortening (part butter) 1 tsp. baking powder Dash of salt 1 c. white sugar 5 big eggs 1 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts Cream sugar and shortening well and add eggs. Beat well. Stir in flour (sifted with baking powder) alternately with milk. Add vanilla and stir in nuts. Bake in well oiled floured tube pan. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees. Let stand in pan for 10 minutes after taking from oven and then remove and close tightly in covered cake box. A caramel icing may be added if desired. |
