BROWN - SUGAR POUND CAKE 
1 c. Crisco shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 lb. dark brown sugar
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. evaporated milk
2 tsp. maple extract

Cream shortening, butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Stir flour, salt and baking powder together in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Stir in maple extract. Pour into a generously greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours. This is a very rich cake. Frost lightly if at all.
