NORTH CAROLINA CHEROLKEE VILLAGE
BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE
 
1 c. butter
1 lb. brown sugar, light
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder

Beat butter and shortening together. Add sugar and mix until fluffy. Beat in eggs, add dry ingredients with milk and vanilla. Stir in nuts. Pour into 10 inch tube pan and bake at 350°F for 1 1/4 hours. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan.

Glaze:

1 c. confectioners sugar
2 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped

Cream together 1 cup confectioners sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, 6 tablespoons cream, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. Blend well.
