NANA'S BROWN SUGAR POUND CAKE 
1 stick butter
1 c. shortening
1 box brown sugar
5 eggs
1 c. white sugar
1 c. walnuts or pecans chopped
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. maple flavoring

Preheat oven 300 degrees F.

Cream butter and shortening, add sugar, mix until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each. Add sifted flour, salt and baking powder. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately stirring well after each addition. Add vanilla, maple flavoring and nuts. Bake in a well greased and floured tube pan or bundt pan for 1 1/2 hours. A good holiday cake.
