SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. unsulphured molasses
1/2 c. water

Sift flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon and salt together. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and molasses to creamed mixture, mixing well. Add dry ingredients alternately with water, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Drop by heaping spoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in moderate oven, 350°F to 375°F, for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 2 dozen.
