3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. soft shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 level tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix thoroughly the sugar, soft shortening and egg; stir in milk. Sift together and stir in remaining ingredients.

FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. nuts
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. melted butter

Put half of the dough in a 9"x9" pan then a layer of sugar next on top of it. Next a layer of dough and remainder of sugar next on top. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes.
