GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE 
1 (4 oz.) can mushroom stems and pieces
1 med. onion, chopped
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. warm milk
3/4 lb. sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 to 1 tbsp. Tabasco
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
3 pkgs. frozen French cut green beans
1 (5 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts
Slivered almonds

Cook mushroom stems and pieces and chopped onion in butter until tender. Add flour and warm milk. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.

Add cheese, Tabasco, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook until cheese melts. Cook 3 packages green beans according to package directions. Drain thoroughly. Add to above mixture. Add water chestnuts. Pour into casserole and top with slivered almonds. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Serves 8-10.
