1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
4 c. flour
3 eggs
1 scant tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Blend in vanilla. Add more flour as needed to make dough firm enough to roll. Roll on floured cloth; sprinkle with sugar and roll in lightly. Cut with desired cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet; bake at 325 degrees until browned.
