SWEDISH BIRD NEST COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 egg whites
1 c. finely chopped walnuts

Mix butter, brown sugar, egg yolks and vanilla well. Blend in flour, salt and mix it all together by hand. Roll into 1 inch balls. Dip into egg whites and roll into nuts. Put your thumb print in center. Bake at 350 degrees and when baked, fill thumb print with you favorite berry jam or jelly.

Looking forward to trying it. There's no bake time included in this recipe, so I'm going to check it after 8 minutes which is about the shortest amount of time a cookie can be baked in. Then I'll leave them in longer if necessary :)

These cookies go way back to my childhood (well I guess I shouldn't have said way back back I guess) enough said. Anyway these cookies are terrific. Always flaky, keep well. If they last that long. And they are easy to make, and a crowd pleaser. From my recollection, it a pretty large recipe, so it stretches. I love apricots, so I use apricot jelly, or cherry. They're all good.
