FRUIT CAKE 
3 c. shelled Brazil nuts
1 lb. pitted dates
1 (8 oz.) jar maraschino cherries
3/4 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Put nuts, dates and cherries into large bowl. Sift next 4 ingredients together. Then sift over fruit. Mix well with your hands. Beat eggs until foamy, add vanilla, stir into nut and cherry mixture until well mixed.

Grease bread pan. Then line with wax paper. Cut corners to make it fit well. Do this before beginning to mix cake. Spread evenly into wax paper lined pan and bake in a preheated 300 degree oven 1 hour and 45 minutes. Cool and slice thin. To shell nuts easy - cover with cold water and boil 3 minutes, drain - cover with cold water and crack.
