These Oatmeal Cookie recipes are all a bit different. Karel Holten credits Aunt Dora with the recipe she submitted, while Aunt Adele says her recipe originated with Aunt Lauraine Giddings.

2 c. white sugar
1 c. lard or butter
2 eggs
1 c. raisins
2 c. oatmeal
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
Salt
Nuts

Pour boiling water over raisins. Let stand awhile. Squeeze out and grind. Mix as usual. Work in all flour. Drop on pan. Flatten with fork.
