ORANGE SLICE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
4 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 lb. chopped dates
1 lb. candied orange slices, cut up
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
2 c. nuts
1 c. buttermilk

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Add buttermilk to dry ingredients, then add orange slices, dates, and nuts. Bake in 3 loaf pans at 275 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

TOPPING FOR ORANGE SLICE CAKE:

1 sm. can frozen orange juice
1/2 c. light brown sugar

Let stand while cake bakes. Pour over cake while hot. Let cool in pan.
