PARKER HOUSE ROLLS | |
1 c. milk 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tbsp. butter 3/4 tsp. salt 1 yeast cake or 1 pkg. yeast 2 tbsp. lukewarm water 1 egg 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water that 1/2 teaspoon sugar has been dissolved in. Scald milk - add sugar, salt, butter. Cool to lukewarm in large mixing bowl. Add yeast - beat in egg - add flour - stirring in gradually to make dough that can be handled easily. Knead a few times. Roll in melted butter and place in large bowl. Let rise 1 (one) hour. Roll dough out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thick. Cut with regular sized jar ring. Make crease across middle, fold and place on greased pan. Brush top with melted butter. Let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Remove at once. Yield - 2 dozen. |
