GRAMMY LYNCH'S APPLE PAN DOWDY 
Apples
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pare, core and slice as many apples you need to almost fill your baking dish. Sweeten apples to taste. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Add flour; mix well. Cover the apples with creamed mixture and bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes, or until apples are cooked. Serve with custard sauce or light cream.
