APPLE PAN DOWDY 
4 c. apple slices
1/2 c. cider
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 c. butter

Arrange apples in buttered baking dish, add cider. Mix spices with sugar and sprinkle over apples. Dot with butter. Cover with biscuit dough 1/4 inch thick. Make slits in dough for steam to escape. Bake in oven at 350 degrees until apples are tender.

BAKING POWDER BISCUIT DOUGH:

2 c. flour
5 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter
3/4 c. milk

Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Cut in butter, add milk and mix lightly until milk is absorbed. Toss dough on floured board. Roll out.
