PIE DOUGH (FOR SANDWICH GRILL)
No bread in the house and feeling an itch to use your favorite sandwich grill? Or just looking to change things up from the usual bread fare? Whip up some pie dough! For the filling, try sliced American cheese and diced ham (yum!)

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 cup shortening (Crisco)
2-3 tbsp. cold water

Mix together flour and salt. Using a pastry cutter, 2 knives or just your fingers, cut in shortening until mixture resembles the size of small peas. Using fork, toss in 2 tablespoons water until mixture holds together. If necessary, add more water very gradually. Form into ball.

Roll into a 10x10-inch square. Cut in half, forming two 10x5-inch strips.

Prepare your sandwich grill with non-stick cooking spray and place strips on plates appropriately. Fill with your favorite fillings. Fold over strips and seal.

Note: You may find it easier to cut each strip in half and use just like bread slices.

Makes enough for 2 square sandwiches.
