DATE AND NUT CAKE 
1 lb. pitted dates
1 lb. pecans (2 c.)
2 c. sugar
2 c. all purpose flour
4 eggs, separated
1/4 lb. butter
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix dates and nuts together. In large bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar; add flour mixture, melted butter and vanilla. Mix in dates and nuts, beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Pour in greased and floured tube pan. Bake 2 hours at 250-300 degrees.
