ORANGE PUMPKIN BREAD 
2/3 c. shortening
2 2/3 c. sugar
1 med. orange
4 eggs
2/3 c. water
2 c. pumpkin
3 1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. chopped pecans
2/3 c. raisins or chopped dates

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pans. Cream shortening and sugar together. Cut whole orange into wedges and remove seeds; place in blender with water and puree. To the creamed mixture add pureed orange, eggs and pumpkin. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and baking powder. Add to pumpkin mixture. Stir in pecans and raisins or dates. Pour into loaf pans and bake 1 hour or until knife comes out clean. Remove from pan; cool. Makes two loaves.
