HOLIDAY BREAD 
1 c. butter
2 c. white sugar
5 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
4 c. flour
8 oz. pkg. dates
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 lb. pkg. candy orange slices, diced

Cream together the butter and sugar. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Sift together the flour, soda, and salt. Add the buttermilk, pecans, orange slices, and dates. Bake in a loaf pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

NOTE: If dates are too expensive, prunes or raisins can be substituted. Delicious! Spread with cream cheese.
