SPANISH SKILLET RICE | |
3/4 c. regular white rice 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, cut up 1 c. water 2/3 c. Heinz chili sauce 1 tbsp. chili powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar Generous dash of cayenne 1/4 c. chopped green pepper In skillet, brown rice, onion and garlic in butter, stir frequently. Add meat, browning just until meat loses red color. Stir occasionally. Drain excess fat. Stir in tomatoes and next 6 ingredients. Bring just to a boil; stir in green pepper. Cover; simmer 30-35 minutes or until rice is tender. Toss mixture well before serving. Makes 4-5 servings. |
