PEAR PUDDING CAKE 
9 c. canned pears, diced
5 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 3/4 c. shortening
6 eggs
5 2/3 c. flour
5 5/8 tsp. baking soda
2 1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
2 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Drain pears. Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Mix well. Add flour, soda, salt, allspice, cloves and cinnamon. Mix well. Stir in pears. Bake in 325 degree oven until done. This is a slow cooking cake.

To make a sauce for cake, melt 1 cup of butter. Add 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 can (large can) of Pet milk. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Serve over cake.
