In individual long dishes, split tomales. Lay open at slight angle. Cover with chili, cheese, and onion. Microwave 3 minutes; turn around and cook approximately 1 minute more. Do one at a time; serve with salad.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
