ORIENTAL BEEF SHORT RIBS 
3-4 lbs. boneless beef short ribs
1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 1/2 c. sliced onion
1 c. chopped celery
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 (10 oz.) bottle ginger ale
1/2 c. catsup
1 tbsp. soy sauce

Combine flour, salt, ginger and coat the ribs. Melt 2 tablespoons shortening in large frying pan with close fitted lid. Brown ribs well. Add 1/2 cup onions, celery and garlic and cook until onions are soft. Sprinkle remaining flour over the ribs. Add ginger ale, catsup and soy sauce. Cover and cook slowly until the meat is done (test with a fork) (about 2 hours).

Add remaining onions and celery and cook 30 minutes more. Serve with rice or noodles. Also can be cooked in oven at 350 degrees. Serves 4-5.
