BRIAN'S CONEY ISLAND HOT DOG SAUCE | |
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef 2 medium onions 4 stalks celery 1 tbsp. minced garlic 1 tbsp. white vinegar 1 tbsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. red pepper 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. cumin 1/2 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. allspice 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce 2 dashes soy sauce 1 tbsp. yellow mustard 1/2 tsp. black pepper 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1 (12 oz.) can tomato sauce Mince onions, celery, and garlic with food processor, set aside. Cook ground beef with a little butter until 3/4 cooked, add minced mixture, and cook another 5 minutes. Add all the spices and continue cooking, mixing well. Cook on low heat for a about 1 hour. Add the tomato sauce and stir it in, mixing well. Once the sauce is done, mince it with a hand held stick type food processor. For the best authentic results, use Kayem “skinny” beef hot dogs, and the full buns, steamed. Submitted by: Brian Morrissette |
