1 c. shortening (half butter for flavor) 1 c. confectioners' sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/4 c. almonds, ground 2 c. sifted all purpose enriched flour 1 tbsp. water 1 tbsp. vanilla Cream shortening and gradually add confectioners' sugar and salt, creaming well. Add almonds and blend in flour mix thoroughly. Add water and vanilla; mix thoroughly with fork. Shape into balls using 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Bake in moderate oven 325 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Roll in confectioners' sugar while still warm. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen cookies. |
