BAKED DOUGHNUTS | |
2 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. lukewarm water Dissolve in large mixing bowl, then add: 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. nutmeg 2 eggs 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 c. shortening 1 tsp. salt Blend with mixer, scraping bowl. Then beat hard, 2 minutes. Add 2 1/2 cups more flour or enough to make a soft dough. Cover and let rise about 1 hour. Turn out on floured board and roll around to coat dough. Gently roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out and place on greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart. Brush with melted butter and raise about 20 minutes. Bake at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Brush immediately with butter and shake on cinnamon sugar or plain sugar. Makes 1 1/2 to 2 dozen. |
