BAKED APPLE DOUGHNUTS 
Cut 1/3 cup shortening into:

1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 tsp. baking powder

Add:

1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sugar

Beat egg. Add:

1/4 c. milk
1 c. chopped raw apples

Add to dry ingredients. Mix well. Fill small muffin tins 2/3 full.

Bake at 305 degrees 25 minutes. Remove from pans at once and roll in melted butter. Then dip in mixture of:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Makes 2 1/2 dozen. Can be frozen.
