APPLE PIE 
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Dash salt
5 c. thinly sliced apples
2 tbsp. butter (melted)

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry. Stir together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Mix with apples and then add melted butter. Turn into pastry lined pie pan. Cover with top crust. Seal and flute. Make slits on top crust. Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.

FLAKEY PIE CRUST:

2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
2/3 c. plus 2 tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
4 to 5 tbsp. cold water

Stir together flour and salt in large bowl. Cut in shortening thoroughly, using a fork. Mix until flour mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until all flour is moistened and dough almost cleans sides of bowl.
