BUTTERMILK CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1/2 c. shortening
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Melt butter and shortening. Add water and cocoa. Stir and bring to a boil. Add flour and sugar to the mixture. Mix buttermilk with soda. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine all mixtures. Pour into greased and floured sheet cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

ICING:

1 stick butter
4 tbsp. cocoa
1/3 c. milk
1 box sifted confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans

Melt butter. Combine with cocoa and milk. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add confectioners' sugar, vanilla, and pecans. Ice cake while hot.
